This is the first official episode of Pop Culture Mondays on Thursdays! This week Brooke talks about why she started this podcast and what to expect each week on Pop Culture Mondays on Thursdays. In pop culture news, Disney is having a really bad week! They had a dance troupe giving a wildy inappropriate performance at the Magic Kingdom, they angered their employees by providing financial support to the politicians behind Florida’s, Don’t Say Gay bill (the cherry on top of what seems to be a long history of repressing LGBTQ+ representation), and they received a ton of backlash on socials for neglecting to invite the star of Steven Spielberg’s new West Side Story, Rachel Zeigler, to the Oscars. Brooke also recommends some great new series and movies now streaming that she binged over the weekend, including Winning Time, WeCrashed, The Adam Project, Bad Vegan, and Deep Water, (Ben Affleck is sexy again?!). Mike Tyson is back in the news with the launch of Mike’s Bites: cannabis infused gummies in the shape of an ear with a bite taken out of it (an “I remember where I was when…” moment). Brooke also (begrudgingly) revisits the sordid tale of Creators Chelsea and Lance, whose tragic relationship saga played out on TikTok for the world to see (the world was not pleased). Finally, Brooke wraps things up with a game we all know and love… “Makeout, Marry, Murder”. All that and more on this week's episode of Pop Culture Mondays on Thursdays.
